The Holiday Season: A Time of Joy or A Time of Horror. The Choice Is Yours

Golburgh Law Dec. 11, 2016

The holiday season is a time of great joy for many. But it can also be a time of grief and sadness for many others. While some folks have large families and groups of friends with whom they celebrate the holidays, others who have lost loved ones or are divorced find the holiday season a very lonely time. Both of these circumstances lead to an increase in the incidences of the overconsumption of alcohol and impaired driving.

Lots of you who might not typically drink during the week or drink at all will attend Christmas and holiday parties during the week, and then drink and drive. Others of you might feel depressed during the holiday season and drink as a way of easing your holiday blues. This leads to a much higher than normal rate of drinking drivers. It’s important to be careful during this time.

DUI arrests skyrocket during Christmas time. New Year’s Eve is commonly known as a time of celebration. But contrary to popular belief, it’s actually quite safe with respect to drinking drivers. This is because there is a great awareness about the problem of impaired driving during the night and people tend to be more careful than normal; however, on New Year’s Eve day and New Year’s day, people let their guard down. This is when most DUI arrests take place.

If you find yourself in handcuffs during the holiday season, call Florida DUI Lawyer Lloyd H. Golburgh. Let his 29 years of experience defending those accused of DUI go to work for you. As always, the consultation is free.
