Your tag may have been run through a government computer system today and neither you, NOR THE POLICE OFFICER WHO DID IT, may know. Why? Because many patrol cars are now equipped with scanners that automatically run license plates and immediately inform the officer when they run a tag on a car whose driver has a suspended license.
